Cedar Plank Marinated Trout

Cedar Plank Marinated Trout

It was a delicious weekend of eating at our house and this trout was one of the highlights.  We’ve had it in restaurants but this was our first time cooking fish on a cedar plank and we anticipate it being repeated often in the future!   Not only did this method of cooking give the fish that smokey flavor but it was super simple as well.

To prepare your plank for cooking you’ll want to soak it for a least one but preferably 3-4 hours.  After you get the plank soaking, this is a good time to get your fish marinating.  We used trout but this recipe would be great for any fish that you would want to plank.

Cedar Plank Marinated Trout

Ingredients:

  • Fish Fillets (we used 3 medium size trout fillets)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut aminos or gluten free tamari
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Directions:

Whisk together marinade ingredients and baste the fish with about half of the marinade.  Reserve the remaining for adding on the grill or while serving.  Marinade fish for at least 1-2 hours in the refrigerator.  When ready to grill, preheat on medium heat.  Place fish skin side down on the plank.  Baste with remaining marinade if desired.  Place plank on the grill and cover.  Keep covered and let cook for 10-20 minutes depending on the size of your fillets.  They are ready when fish flakes easily. Enjoy! .
